Isoclad – Engineering & Manufacturing Flooring
PSC were recently called into Isoclad, the largest independent manufacturer of insulated panels and ancillaries in the UK to look at their new proposed Vertix Workshop at their Monmouth facility.
Client Brief and Recommendation
The 670 square meters floor area was to be used for new machinery for a new product line and the client wanted a new resin floor with demarcated areas to show machine areas and pedestrian walkways. It was recommended that the area be prepared and then given a two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin flooring system with dark grey for the machine areas, blue pedestrian walkways and light grey for general work areas, all finished with safety yellow demarcation lines and hatching.
Preparation of the Floor Surface
The main floor area was thoroughly cleaned and prepared using an enclosed triple headed diamond grinding floor preparation machine and the edges with an enclosed hand held 110v diamond grinder. The area was then vacuumed clean and repairs were made to any localised damaged concrete, holes, bolt holes and cracks using epoxy resin screed and polyurethane mortar.
670 Square Metres of High Build Epoxy Resin
The space was divided by colour and the two coat Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin flooring system was installed. The client’s main colour, light grey, was applied to 471 square metres with 100 square metres masked out in Dark grey, a Chelsea Blue 69 square metre walkway, with 100mm wide edging lines to walkway and around all dark grey areas in safety yellow totalling 149 linear metres.
Additionally Resdev Pumatect V high build epoxy resin was used to create 300mm wide chevrons to the walkway in safety yellow.
The job took 5 days and was completed on time and in budget.
“We are really pleased with the new floor; we weren’t expecting such a good finish given the state of the original floor. Our MD now wants the rest of the factory completed in epoxy resin!”.
