Client Brief and Recommendations
Madni Food Products Ltd was looking to expand their manufacturing space and specified needing a food safe floor. Additionally, the food safe floor would need be easy to clean and keep clean. Furthermore, at the site visit it was noted that there were layers of failed floor paint. Therefore, the floor paint would need to be removed before installing an Environmental Health friendly 6mm heavy duty RT polyurethane screed.
In Preparation
To prepare for the 6mm heavy-duty RT polyurethane screed, we first needed to remove the failed floor paint, along with dirt and contaminants, by thoroughly cleaning and preparing the concrete surface. We began by giving the entire area a medium shot blast using the 20D shot blasting floor preparation system. Next, we cleaned and prepared the edgework with a fully enclosed handheld 110v diamond grinding machine.
Afterward, we vacuumed the floor to remove all residues and dust. We then made 6mm x 6mm saw cuts around the perimeter, door thresholds, and drains, totaling 104 linear meters, to toe in and anchor the screed.
680 Square Meters – 6mm heavy duty RT polyurethane screed
After the 680 square meters were fully prepared, we applied a nominal 6mm heavy-duty Resdev Pumadur RT polyurethane in the client’s chosen textured matt red finish.
Once dry, we saw cut a 6mm x 6mm channel at the existing expansion joints, knocked them out, and filled them with matching joint compound to mirror the expansion joints where necessary.
The entire project was completed in just 8 working days, on time and within budget.
