Shorade Accident Repair Centre – Avonmouth – Vehicle Workshop Flooring
Shorade, a Tesla and Porsche specialist, invited us to inspect their body shop in Avonmouth. During the site inspection, we noticed the 866 square metre floor was in poor condition and needed repairs before applying any topcoat finishes.
Client Brief and Recommendation
Shorade – Avonmouth wanted a strong, durable, high-end look similar to what we achieved at their Cannock Accident Repair Centre. We recommended an 8mm heavy-duty cementitious screed, followed by two coats of high build epoxy resin.
Preparation of floor surface
Firstly, the team used a totally enclosed shot blasting machine to remove any failed floor paint and thoroughly clean and prepare the existing concrete surface. Furthermore, they also used a double-headed diamond grinding machine, while the edges were completed with a handheld 110v diamond grinder.
After that, the team applied one coat of KDR Epocoat MT moisture-tolerant epoxy resin priming system to the 866 square meter area. Additionally, they then incorporated a heavy scatter of 0.6 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate into the resin priming system.
Nominal 8mm Weber 4610 heavy duty industrial grade cementitious screed system with two coats of high build epoxy resin to 866 sq mtrs
Firstly, a nominal 8mm Weber 4610 heavy duty Industrial grade cementitious screed was machine pumped to the total floor area. Then, existing expansion joints were then mirrored through by saw cutting 10mm x 8mm expansion joints. After that, they were knocked out and infilled with jointing compound to circa 45 linear metres.
Furthermore, the cured cementitious screed was then lightly abraded using a double headed diamond grinding machine. Moreover, it was then vacuumed clean before applying two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin flooring system, based on light grey and mid grey colouring. The colour was pre-agreed by the client.
Similarly, Mid Grey Ral 7046 was laid out to create parking bays and a side workshop; thus, totalling 450 square metres. Additionally, Light Grey Ral 7035 was applied to gangways, office, stores and goods in area totalling 416 square meters.
In total, the entire project took just 8 days from start to finish. This included: shot blasting, priming, machine pumping the screed and then setting out and laying the two coats of epoxy resin.
Finally, to complete the look, 100mm wide edging lines were masked out to parking bays totalling circa 180 linear meters. Resdev Pumatect V high build epoxy resin was used in the clients chosen white.
