Ken Biggs Contractors Ltd – Food Grade Flooring
Client Brief and Recommendations
The end client was looking for a hard wearing, food safe flooring solution for their Salad Prep Area. As such, PSC recommended a Food Grade RT polyurethane Screed completed with a 100mm high polyurethane cove system. Moreover, at the site visit it was noted there was a large amount of glass window surrounding the floor area, letting in a lot of UVR light. Therefore, we recommended a UVR stable polyurethane coating system was laid on top of the RT Screed, as otherwise the RT screed could fade and discolour over time.
In Preparation
To prepare the area for the recommended 9mm RT polyurethane screed, we first ground back the entire 105 square metre new concrete floor surface using a triple-headed diamond grinding machine and vacuum system. Then, we ground the edge work with enclosed handheld diamond grinders and vacuumed all residues and dust. Additionally, we made 9mm x 6mm saw cuts around the perimeter, door thresholds, drains, gullies, and where needed to toe in and anchor the screed. Afterward, we applied a DPM epoxy resin primer and scattered 0.7 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate over it.
105sqm 9mm Resdev Pumadur RT polyurethane screed & Polyurethane CG Cove System
We laid a nominal 9mm heavy-duty Resdev Pumadur RT polyurethane screed, textured and matt, across the entire floor in the client’s chosen Sandstone color.
Afterward, we measured and installed stainless steel bird’s beak trim, 100mm high, to complete the 32 linear meters of 100mm high, 50mm radius Resdev Pumadur CG polyurethane coving system.
Finally, once the floor dried, we applied two coats of UVR stable polyurethane coating system.
The job was completed on time, within budget and Ken Biggs Contractors Ltd were pleased with the result.
PSC Flooring have carried out a great job and the end client is very pleased with their new floor.
