THE BRIEF …. To provide a food grade resin flooring to St George’s Bakery, in Gloucestershire; a new 200 sq mtr production facility and public shop. To remove, repair and replace the old flooring with a new slip resistant, hard wearing, easily maintainable floor, meeting food hygiene standards. Little or no “down time” was needed at a cost effective price but without compromise on health and hygiene standards.
THE SOLUTION …. The installation of a 6mm, heavy duty polyurethane screed.
THE BENEFITS …. Food Grade Resin Flooring installed by PSC Flooring Ltd
Tested by the Campden and Chorleywood Food Research Association, our 6mm polyurethane screed meets health and safety food industry requirements, preventing micro-bacterial growth and providing a safe and impervious surface, easily cleaned and maintained, enabling steam cleaning up to 120°C for screed thicknesses of 9mm.
Our 6mm hardwearing food grade resin flooring provides a durable surface able to withstand continued high impact, abrasion and chemical and water spillage.
Slip resistance was a priory for St George’s Bakery; the safety and welfare of its staff and visitors being of paramount importance. PSC Flooring Ltd were able to offer expert advice in terms of the most appropriate food grade resin flooring system to safeguard against workplace accidents.
Just because it’s practical and functional doesn’t mean it can’t look great. 6mm polyurethane screed can be supplied in a multitude of colours to colour code workstations and incorporate corporate branding. St George’s Bakery opted for green screed.
THE PROCESS …. Out with the old and in with the new
Within a 3 day turnaround to minimise downtime and disruption to the Bakery, the old floor was shot-blasted and diamond grinded; old paint was removed and the floor cleaned and repaired. Holes and joints filled, followed by a coat of epoxy primer. The final coat of 6mm heavy duty polyurethane screed was laid, completing the food grade resin flooring for the Bakery.
