1400sq mtrs of 6mm heavy duty polyurethane screed laid at National Food Manufacturer in Skelmersdale.
PSC Flooring Ltd, industrial flooring contractors, have recently installed a heavy duty polyurethane floor to a new production area for a national food manufacturer in Skelmersdale. The client wanted a floor that was hard wearing, seamless, easy to clean, could give some anti slip resistance in the wet and could last at least 10 years.

PSC Flooring Ltd put forward a 6mm Resdev Pumadur RT heavy duty polyurethane floor screed as the best option. Polyurethane Screeds offer the highest level of durability to date and FeRFA, the UK resin’s governing body, classifies these screeds as Type 8, meaning they are the most hard wearing, robust screeds on the market. The benefits of the polyurethane screed in the food industry is that they are hygienic as they are seamless, impervious and do not support microbial growth. They are also easy to clean and maintain and they can be steamed cleaned at temperatures up to 120C at 9mm thickness.
Anti-Slip
They also offer excellent slip resistance in the wet. Food grade floors are consistently subjected to spillages and water due to constantly being cleaned down. It is vital that even in the wet that certain split resistance is met. That is why the polyurethane screed is excellent in this environment as it has inbuilt anti slip properties.
Quality Results
The concrete floor was first shot blasted clean and then all anchor channel saw cuts around all drains, expansion joints and door entrances were carried out. Then one coat of epoxy resin primer was laid. The floor was then thoroughly repaired and then followed by the 6mm Resdev Pumadur RT heavy duty, polyurethane screed, Chelsea Blue. All expansion joints were then mirrored through the resin screed and infilled with matching joining compound.
Fast Turnaround
The resin flooring project was completed in two weeks. The client was delighted with their new heavy duty polyurethane floor that was completed on time and in budget and provided a client with a very hard wearing, durable resin floor that would be suitable for heavy use in the food industry.
