Buying the perfect production space can sometimes be just as much hard work as buying a dilapidated building and building it back up to scratch at the spec you need for your business.
Hymix Ltd of Telford a manufacturer of cement mixing vehicles recently purchased a 1400 square meter manufacturing facility in telford. The building itself whilst the perfect location and size was derelict and required full refurbishment.
This busy manufacturing plant had exacting specifications when it came to the production area floor:
- Exceptionally hard wearing
- Minimum of 10 year lifespan
- Maintenance free
- Easy to clean
- Able to withstand heavy machinery and traffic
- Scratch resistant
Repair and protect
PSC Flooring assessed the existing old concrete floor and recommended shot blasting and extensive repair before applying 2 coats of Damp Proof Membrane and a 6mm Heavy Duty ResDev RT Polyurethane Screed with an additional coat of ResDev Pumadur DD Polyurethane coating system in clear silk.
The ResDev products recommended for the job combined to make an exceptionally hard-wearing finish able to withstand the high impact of such a busy and heavy-duty production area.
Colour coding
The selected mid grey colour for the production area with a safety yellow demarcation line around the 1-meter wide perimeter has given the manufacturing area a clean and bright feel.
With staff and visitor safety high on the priority list, the clear demarcation of the walkways in the chosen safety yellow colour as well as zebra crossings by the shutter doorways gives clear indication of safe areas within the work place and hence meets Health and Safety Executive guidelines.
Completed on time and within the given timescale the extensive floor refurbishment along with the overall building makeover has given Hymix the perfect manufacturing facility to enable their business to expand into the future.
