Black Sheep Brewery – Phase 1 – Food Grade Flooring
PSC Flooring are delighted to have been invited to look at a muti-phase flooring refurbishment project for Black Sheep Brewery in Masham, an independent Yorkshire beer brewery. Moreover, established in 1992 by Paul Theakston – the brewery in Masham is a mixture of tradition and innovation.
Client Brief and Recommendations
To begin, Black Sheep Brewery was looking for a practical flooring solution for their new bund area. Also, they wanted falls to be added which would aid drainage and ease the cleaning routine. Moreover, at the site visit it was noted that the current floor had failed floor coatings that would need to be removed before the recommended gradients to drains were added and the final surface of 6mm RT Screed could be laid.
In Preparation
Firstly, to remove failed floor coatings, and thoroughly clean and prepare the main concrete floor surface a totally enclosed triple headed diamond grinding floor preparation system was used, powered via a 3 phase, 415 volt, 32 amp, 5 pin socket. Then, the edges were then ground back using a totally enclosed hand-held 110v diamond grinder and the floor was vacuumed clean of all residues and dust.
Finally, in the preparation stage 6mm x 10mm saw cuts were made to door thresholds, around drains and to perimeter of floor area and where necessary to toe in and anchor the screed.
330 Square meters of Food Grade Flooring
Firstly, one coat of Redev Pumatect MT Moisture Tolerant Epoxy Resin Primer was laid incorporating a 0.7 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate to aid adhesion to the entire area.
After that, 13 tonnes of Resdev Pumabulk and Polyurethane Mortar Compound was laid by hand to form the slopes in the bund area. Consequently, this provided falls to two drains, using a 1m in 100mm ratio for gradient.
Then, a nominal 6mm Heavy Duty Resdev Pumadur RT Polyurethane Screed in the clients chosen Red colourway was laid on top. Therefore, the brewery was provided with a new hard wearing, impact resistant and chemical resistant resin screed.
The job took just 10 days, including laying new falls and a 6mm Heavy Duty RT Polyurethane Screed at Black Sheep Brewery.
