Expert Tooling – Engineering and Manufacturing Flooring
Expert Tooling are a leading manufacturer of industrial automation systems with 2 locations in the UK as well as facilities in Germany, the United States and China.
PSC Flooring has a long-standing relationship with Expert Tooling, over 10 years, having completed projects within all their other factories, including one in the north east. When called in to look at the floors in their new £5m purpose built 5100 square metre manufacturing facility in Coventry, Resdev Pumatect two coat High Build Epoxy Resin system was the obvious choice as it provides excellent long-term wear and chemical resistance.
The 5100 square metres consisted of newly laid power floated concrete floor that required a light shotblasting and 2 coats of epoxy resin damp proof membrane primer. PSC used the shotblasting machine and double headed diamond grinding machine to clean and prepare the floor and remove all contaminates before sweeping and vacuuming the area. Once clean, the next process was to lay two coats of Resdev Pumaprine Damp Proof epoxy resin primer to ensure moisture did not rise and delaminate the new flooring surface. Once preparation was completed two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin in the clients chosen light grey were applied.
As well as the two coats of light grey Pumatect laid to the whole area, the HGV loading bays received additional demarcation in red.
The project took just under 3 weeks and was delivered in time and on budget resulting in a tough impervious epoxy resin floor that has transformed the 5100 Sqm factory floor area making it attractive, hard wearing and easy to clean.
