PSC were delighted to be invited to look at an 850 square vehicle workshop for our local Ford Main dealer – Hills Ford of Kidderminster. Having dealerships in both Kidderminster and Malvern, family-owned Hills Ford stock both New and pre-owned from Ford and a number of other car manufacturers.

Client Brief & Recommendation

The client was looking for a hardwearing, easy to clean and keep clean flooring solution that would be impervious to engine oil and grease. They were keen to get the work done with minimum disruption to their business and as such we scheduled the work to be carried out over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

At the site visit it was noted that the old resin floor was extremely worn and would need to be removed using the captive diamond grinding machine before the recommended 2 coat high build system was installed.

In Preparation

In preparation for the two coat High Build Resin flooring system the floor was ground back to remove all oil, dirt and grease, failed epoxy resin coatings using triple headed diamond grinding floor machine and vacuum. The edgework was then ground back using totally enclosed handheld 110v diamond grinder machine.

The floor was then sweep clean of all dust and debris before repairs were made to any localised damage, bolt holes and cracks using epoxy resin screed and polyurethane mortar.

100 square metres of the floor had particularly bad oil contamination and therefore one coat of Resdev Pumaprime OCS oil tolerant epoxy resin priming system.

850 Square meters of vehicle Workshop Flooring

In order to lay out the clients required design the floor was masked out into the areas required for the 3 different chosen colours.

The main base colour of Mid Grey was laid to the main areas and an additional 60 square metres where a 0.4 to 0.8mm quartz aggregate was added around the wash bay area.

Chelsea Blue was laid to the gangway areas with edging lines in V high build epoxy resin safety yellow. Dark Grey was then applied to the 12 ramp areas.

The project took 4 full days to complete and has completely transformed the workshop.

As part of our continual investment into the business, we were busy transforming our flooring in our Kidderminster workshop over the Easter Bank Holiday. Many thanks to the team at PSC Flooring Ltd who did an amazing job as the before and after images illustrates.
