JB Interior Services Ltd – Food Grade Flooring
Client Brief & Recommendation
The client’s requirement for a durable and food-safe flooring solution for their new food production line was met with the recommendation of a 6mm RT polyurethane screed and a 100mm high CG polyurethane coving system by PSC. This choice was made due to the need for a floor that would allow water from constant washing to flow towards the drainage system without leaving area of standing water. RT Polyurethane Screed Flooring Systems offer a seamless finish with built-in anti-slip properties and can be laid in gradient falls towards drainage systems, making it the ideal solution for this demanding environment.
In Preparation
In preparation for the installation of Food Grade Flooring, the concrete underwent thorough preparation using a captive diamond grinding machine. This process was essential for opening up the pores of the concrete and eliminating any surface contaminants. Subsequently, the entire floor area was meticulously swept clean, and saw cuts were carefully made to the perimeter, doorways, and around drains to provide the team with precise points for screed application. Following this, a layer of moisture-tolerant primer was applied to complete the preparation process.
360 Square meters of Food Grade Flooring
The skilled team at PSC Flooring meticulously applied 360 square meters of 6mm Resdev RT polyurethane screed in the client’s chosen Chelsea Blue colour. After the RT screed dried, the team painstakingly re-cut all the concrete expansion joints, ensuring they mirrored back through the finished screed and filled them with matching polyurethane jointing compound. This meticulous approach allows the concrete to expand and contract without compromising the integrity of the newly laid RT screed. To complete the flooring project, a 100mm high CG polyurethane coving system was expertly laid to cover the 145 linear meter perimeter of the room.
The entire project was completed in just 6 working days, meeting the deadline and staying within the client’s budget.
