PSC Flooring Ltd have just completed 165 square metres of 6mm heavy Resdev Pumadur RT polyurethane screed, as part of a total refurbishment project to the new Ambulance Station in Monmouth. The work was completed for the main contractor 2D Building Contractors Ltd based in Pontyclun, South Wales. We have worked with 2D Building Contractors Ltd on a number of projects over the last 5 years so it was great to be called back again to work with them.
The end client was looking for a very hard wearing, scratch resistant screed, that wasn’t gloss. The screed would need to withstand regular heavy duty vehicle movements, be easy to maintain and clean. As well as slip resistant in the wet and very resilient and last at least 10 years plus. It was noted at the FREE Site Visit that the old floor would need grinding back and a recommended nominal 6mm RT Polyurethane screed was laid.
In preparation for the recommended 6mm RT polyurethane screed the entire 165 square meter area was ground back using PSCs inhouse diamond grinding floor surface preparation machine to remove the surface. Repairs were carried out to localised damaged concrete as required using epoxy mortar compound.
Secondly any residue/dust was vacuumed clean before 6mm x 6mm saw cuts were made to door thresholds, around drains and to perimeter of floor area and where necessary to toe in and anchor screed.
The final stage of the preparation was to ensure that any residual damp would not rise, and to provide a key for the screed, one coat of a damp-proof membrane primer incorporating a quartz aggregate, was applied.
The recommended Resdev Pumadur RT polyurethane screed was laid in the clients chosen two colours, Mid Grey and Green. This created three sections to the floor.
Finally a 100mm wide demarcation line was masked out to create a walkway and hatching lines were added to the roller shutter entrance door. These lines were laid using polyurethane resin, in Safety Yellow, offering a highly visible contrast and enhancing health and safety.
This project took a total of 5 working days and was completed on time and with budget. The contractor and the end client were delighted with their new resin floor and can have full confidence in their long-term resin floor.
