BB Contracts – Hyundai Chiswick – Vehicle Workshop Flooring

PSC were delighted to be invited to look at Vehicle Workshop for a new Hyundai dealership in West London for returning client BB Contracts limited of Rochester, Kent.  BB Contracts limited are a professional fit-out and refurbishment main contractor operating across the UK and in the past PSC Flooring have completed a number of workshop floors in recent times.

Client Brief & Recommendation

The end client brief was for a very hard-wearing resin floor surface, to withstand constant car movements, which was smooth and Matt in appearance and easy to clean. At the site visit it was noted that the existing floor was covered with quarry floor tiles, that would need to be shotblasted to clean and prepare them, ready to receive the recommended heavy duty Pumadur MD screed. The job was to be completed in phases to ensure minimum downtown and the majority of the floor would receive a 6mm Pumadur MD screed, with just the 15 square metres break tester area which would require a nominal 10mm heavy duty MD polyurethane screed.

In Preparation

In preparation for refurbishing the busy workshop floor the existing quarry floor tiles were checked to ensure they were sound before being shotblasted to clean and prepare them. The entire floor was them given a coat of DPM epoxy resin primer to ensure good inter-coat adhesion with the MD polyurethane screed system.

490 square metres laying heavy duty MD polyurethane screed

In phase 1, the first 300 square metre area received a nominal 6mm Pumadur MD screed, which is smooth, and Matt. This was laid over 2 days in the end clients chosen Dark Grey. A 6mm flooring system was installed to ensure that the grid lines of the quarry tiles beneath would not be visible in the final floor.

PSC returned in the New Year to complete phase 2 of the project installing a further 175 square metres of nominal 6mm heavy duty MD polyurethane screed to another area of the workshop and 15 square metres of nominal 10mm heavy duty MD polyurethane screed to the break tester area.
