BB Contracts – BYD Thames Ditton – Vehicle Workshop

PSC were delighted to be invited to look at Vehicle Workshop for a BYD Electric Car dealership in Thames Ditton for new client BB Contracts limited of Rochester, Kent.  BB Contracts limited are a professional fit-out and refurbishment main contractor operating across the UK.

Client Brief & Recommendation

The end client brief was for a hardwearing, easy to clean and keep clean workshop floor. The floor was in good condition with no previous coatings or demarcation but being bare concrete hard to clean and keep clean. PSC recommended a two coat Epoxy Resin High Build Coating System which is perfect for all types of Vehicle Workshops as it is tough and durable, quick to install and chemically resistant. This last characteristic makes it perfect for Vehicle Workshops as epoxy resin is impervious to substances such as grease, oil, and fuel hence they remain on the surface until proper cleaning occurs.

In Preparation

In preparation for refurbishing the busy workshop floor the flooring team prepared the concrete substrate using PSC’s own captive diamond grinders. Diamond grinders remove a thin layer of the concrete substrate surface using closely spaced diamond saw blades. Paired with an industrial vacuum system that collects the residue and dust created by the diamond grinding machine. Repairs were then made to any localised damaged concrete, expansion joints, holes, bolt holes as required using resin screed and resin filler.

192 Square Metres Two Coat High Build Epoxy Resin System

The recommended two coat High Build Epoxy Resin system was then applied to the entire 192 square metre floor area in the end clients chosen gloss mid grey, allowing at least 12 hours to dry between coats. Each coat of Resdev Pumatect High Build Epoxy Resin was hand applied, cutting in around the edge using a paint brush and then the rest of the floor is completed by pouring the High Build Epoxy Resin and spreading it evenly across the floor with a squeegee and then back rolling with a 15-inch roller to remove any spike marks or squeegee marks. Two coats are applied to build up the thickness and improve longevity of service.

The work was completed in just 2 days – on time and on budget.
