Recently PSC Flooring was called in to look at refurbishing floor surfaces as part of the end of tenancy dilapidation clause on behalf of a main contractor in Milton Keynes. The main contractor was carrying out a wide variety of work to the 1500sqm space and had come up against some issues with the floor.
The tenant had subdivided the space into multiple rooms and installed a food grade polyurethane floor throughout, installed with falls towards the drainage system. The landlord was keen to ensure a broad appeal for future tenants and as such wanted the floor restored back to a flat floor. In removing the polyurethane floor screed and falls the concrete floor beneath was extremely damaged and pitted.
At the free site visit we recommended a 10mm heavy duty cementitious screed be pumped in to renovate the damaged floor. Choosing a Cementitious Pump Screed has many advantages. For instance, not only do you not have to dig up the existing concrete floor, but it is also quick and economical. Cementitious Self Levelling Screed is a premium industrial flooring solution that offers self-smoothing, dimensional stability, and rapid drying properties.
The damaged floor was given a heavy shot blast to remove any remaining evidence of the screed used to create the falls on the previous floor system. We then carried out extensive repairs using industrial base screed and polyurethane mortar screed. Finally, the last step of preparation was to apply a coat of epoxy resin DPM primer to the entire floor area.
Once the DPM primer was dry the pumping team moved in to pump 23 tonnes of DCP industrial topping in just one day. The slick operation involved a constant filling of the pumping machine to ensure a seamless finish.
Once the cementitious screed was dry the cured screed was then lightly abraded, before two coats of DCP Strongcoat HB epoxy resin in the clients chosen Light Grey was laid to the entire floor.
Finally, all expansion joints totalling 280 linear metres to floor and around 34 stanchions were mirrored through and filled with polyurethane jointing compound
The installation took two weeks from start to finish, leaving the landlord with a flat fully repaired floor fit for the next tenant.
