PSC Flooring were delighted to work again with long term construction client Dale Contractors Ltd. Dale Contractors Ltd who are based in Burnley, invited PSC to look at 675 square metres of flooring in a manufacturing facility in Accrington. Dale Contractors Ltd were the main contractor, contracted to refurbish the space in a global manufacturing plant that produces flexible reinforcement textiles.
At the site survey the end client relayed their need for a hardwearing floor that had clear demarcation of a walkway in 400 square meters of their production area. As well as a hardwearing, easy to clean area on their 275 square meter mezzanine. It was evident when inspected that the production area floor had several layers of failed floor coatings that would need to be removed before the recommended 2 coat high build epoxy resin flooring system was installed.
In preparation for the high build epoxy resin flooring system throughout, the floor was ground back using our totally enclosed double headed diamond grinding machine. The edges were cleaned up using a handheld diamond grinder and the entire space was vacuumed clean. Vacuuming is essential to ensure that all dust, dirt and debris are cleaned up before repairs are made.
Followed by repairs being made to any localised damaged concrete. This was done using epoxy mortar compound and epoxy resin screed.
Now the floor was prepared the entire 675square metres was given two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin in the clients chosen Mid grey colourway. Once dry, the walkways were marked and coated with two coats of high build epoxy resin in green to create the walkways and finished with 75mm wide edging lines in Resdev Pumatect V Line marker epoxy resin in safety yellow. The combination of which created a highly defined walkway.
Whilst this wasn’t an easy job at all, with lots of failed resin coats and screed and 20-year-old compacted adhesive. The team persevered and delivered a great finish.
