PSC Flooring were delighted to be invited by long term construction client D
ale Contractors Ltd who are based in Burnley, to look at a 1600 square metre floor in a manufacturing facility near Accrington. Dale Contractors Ltd they were contracted to refurbish.
The end client was looking for very hard wearing, flat floor, that would stand the test of time. At the site visit it was noted that there was a 3 to 5mm epoxy resin screed on the floor that had failed, this would need to be removed to expose the concrete substrate. PSC Flooring recommended that once the failed floor screed was removed the concrete substrate be prepared for a cementitious pumped screed in order to create the very hard wearing, flat floor the client was looking for.
In order to prepare the floor for the recommended cementitious screed pumped the failed 3 to 5mm epoxy resin screed was removed using a diesel-powered ride on scabbling machine. The entire area was then shotblasted to leave a clean slab which was then primed with KDR epocoat MT in readiness for the cementitious screed.
Once dry a nominal 10mm heavy duty Weber cementitious screed to 1600 square meters, to provide a very hard wearing, new flat floor.
Finally we installed two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin flooring system, in the clients chosen high gloss, mid grey.
