PSC were delighted to complete 1200 square metres of Warehouse Flooring as part of dilapidation works carried out for the landlord in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. The warehouse, located near Sandhurst, just north of Gloucester, is approximately 66 miles south west of Birmingham. The Landlord was carrying out dilapidation refurbishment works as the previous tenant had moved out without restoring the building.
At the FREE site survey the landlord explained that this was a dilapidation project, and that he was looking to refurbish the warehouse for prospective new tenants. He was looking for a new, fresh, hard wearing resin coating system that would be suitable for a wide variety of businesses including the warehousing and storage market. It was evident the previous tenant had had racking installed and as such there was a large number of bolts and bolt holes remaining in the floor that would need to be removed before the recommended two coat high build epoxy resin system was installed.
As part of the preparation process over 1500 bolts were cut off, before the old epoxy resin coating system was fully removed. Our captive diamond grinding machine was used to remove failed floor paint, contaminants and to thoroughly clean and prepare concrete floor surface. It is important to remove the bolt heads prior to diamond grinding as stray bolt heads could damage the all-important diamond teeth on the grinding disc.
Once ground back all large holes were then filled. As well as over 200 linear metres of expansion joints were filled using polyurethane jointing compound.
After the first coat of resin was laid, all 1500 bolts were filled and then abraded back before the second and final coat of KDR Epocoat High Build Epoxy Resin, in the clients chosen Slate Mid Grey was laid
The project took 8 days from start to finish and the landlord is delighted with their new resin floor, that has transformed the industrial unit.
