PSC were delighted to be contacted by local main contractor Maple Aion to work on a Commercial Flooring refurbishment project for a local agricultural machinery dealer TH White’s, on Sandy Lane Industrial Estate, Stourport on Severn. Maple Aion serve as main contractor, delivering turnkey construction projects for Industrial, Commercial, Civil Engineering and Defence clients.
At the free site survey, it was noted that the floor in the reception and shop area of the agricultural supplier would need to be toughly cleaned and prepared before any flooring system be laid. In order to achieve the heavy duty floor the end client was looking for that could withstand not only foot traffic but also agricultural machinery it was recommended a 3mm Self Levelling Polyurethane resin screed system. A 3mm Self Levelling Polyurethane resin screed system is ideal for this project as it provides a robust flooring solution ideal for a variety of commercial spaces, including retail environments, reception areas, staff breakout areas, schools, hospitals, hotels, exhibition venues, and stadiums. These screeds are specifically designed to withstand high foot traffic, ensuring durability and ease of maintenance with their gloss smooth finish.
The entire floor area was thoroughly cleaned and prepared using our captive double headed diamond grinding machine, which is powered via 3 phase, 415 volt, 32 amps. The edges were then ground back using totally enclosed handheld 110v diamond grinders. Any remaining residue was vacuumed clean all residues and dust with 110v triple motor vacuum.
The team made 6mm x 3mm saw cuts to door thresholds, shutter doors and where necessary in readiness to toe in and anchor screed.
The final stage of preparation was to lay an epoxy resin primer incorporating heavy scatter of 0.7 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate.
Finally, to lay a nominal KDR Resins Polyflow 3mm heavy duty SL polyurethane screed, smooth, matt to total floor area, in the clients chosen grey colour way.
The works took just 2 days to complete the 3mm screed. Completed on time and on budget. Leaving the end client with a smooth, easy to clean floor.
