PSC are always happy to complete a project for long-time client Motus Commercials. In this case they needed a 750 square metre HGV workshop floor refurbishing in Lye in the West Midlands (11 miles south west of Birmingham). Motus Commercials are approved DAF Trucks dealership based in the West Midlands, providing DAF sales, DAF servicing and DAF parts.
At the site visit it was evident that the existing floor was extremely contaminated with oil, grease and dirt and would require a heavy shotblast before any resin flooring system was installed. The client was looking for a hardwearing floor that would transform the space to make it brighter and lighter. With that in mind PSC recommended a two-coat high build epoxy resin system to be laid to the 750 square metre HGV workshop.
As per the recommendation the entire 750 Square Metre floor was given a heavy shotblast via the captive ride on shotblasting machine to remove as much of the oil, grease and dirt from the floor as possible. Repairs were made to localised damaged concrete, holes and cracks using epoxy resin screed and polyurethane mortar before a coat of Resdev OCS oil tolerant epoxy primer was laid to prevent any residual oil or grease from leaching.
Once the oil tolerant epoxy primer was dry then two coats of Resdev Pumatect high build epoxy resin in the clients chosen mid grey was laid. The client chose a Chelsea Blue for the walkway area totalling 60 square metres and a 75mm demarcation line was added to the walkway and equipment area in Resdev Pumatect V high build epoxy resin, safety yellow to circa 110 linear metres.
The work was completed in just 5 days based on normal working hours during the December shut down period leaving plenty of drying time ready for the new year.
