PSC have had the pleasure of installing 220 square metres of new production area Food Grade flooring for a large cake manufacturer in London. N Wholesale a manufacturer of Asian Dairy based sweets and confectionary were looking to expand their production area.
The client was looking for a very hard-wearing food grade floor, that was impact resistant, chemical resistant, with anti-slip properties. So, it was recommended that the floor be diamond ground to remove failed floor paint, thoroughly clean and prepare concrete floor surface before laying a heavy duty 6mm RT polyurethane screed. 6mm RT polyurethane screed, otherwise known as Food Grade Flooring, is perfect for the food industry. It is seamless and offers exceptional slip resistance, even in wet conditions, and can be tailored to support drainage, reinforcing health and safety standards.
In preparation for the 6mm RT polyurethane screed the entire 220 square meter area was ground back using a diamond grinding floor surface preparation machine to remove the surface. Repairs were carried out to localised damaged concrete as required using epoxy mortar compound.
Any residue/dust was vacuumed clean.
10mm x 10mm saw cuts were made to door thresholds, around drains and to perimeter of floor area and where necessary to toe in and anchor screed.
To ensure that any residual damp would not rise, and to provide a key for the screed, one coat of a damp-proof membrane primer incorporating a quartz aggregate, was applied.
The 220 square meter area was then laid with a nominal 6mm heavy duty Resedv Pumadur RT polyurethane, textured, matt. The clients chose a red colourway.
This phase of was part of a multi-phase expansion and refurbishment project. This phase took a total of 3 working days and was completed on time and with budget.
