



PSC were pleased to be invited to look at a 1050 square meter warehouse floor for Pass Limited a leading supplier and stockist of test and measurement equipment, based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
It was noted at the site visit that the floor was in a rough state withhold drains that had been roughly filled in. A 552 square meter area had a nominal 2 to 5mm latex screed that would need to be removed using a captive floor scabbling machine before the recommended Nominal 10mm heavy duty industrial grade cementitious screed and two coats of High Build high build epoxy resin flooring system laid.
For this job the preparation was extremely important and extensive. Firstly, the nominal 2 to 5mm latex screed that covered a 552m2 area was removed using a captive floor scabbling machine and the entire floor was ground back using a captive triple headed diamond grinding machine and handheld totally enclosed diamond grinder. The floor was then vacuumed clear of all dust and debris.
An epoxy mortar compound and heavy-duty fibre reinforced base cementitious screed was then used to prime and repair localised damage. The localised damage included areas of the concrete that had holes, cracks and expansion joints. including a large trench that was 14m x 300mm wide x 25mm deep.
Once complete 135 linear metres of new concrete in the drain areas (135 Lin Meters x 300mm wide by a nominal 15mm deep) were primed. The priming consisted of one coat of KDR Epocoat MT moisture tolerant epoxy resin priming system, incorporating a heavy scatter of 0.6 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate. Once dry a nominal 15mm Weber 4320 heavy duty fibre reinforced base cementitious screed was used to infill.
An oil tolerant epoxy resin primer was applied to circa 30 square metres of severely oil contaminated floor.
1.5mm industrial grade mesh was cut and laid over the drains, secured by screw and plug.
Finally, the entire floor was given two coats of Weber 4716 acrylic primer.
Once the primer was dry, a nominal 10mm Weber 4610 heavy duty Industrial grade cementitious screed was machine pumped to the total 1012 square meter floor area.
To mirror through existing expansion joints by saw cutting 6mm x 10mm expansion joints, knock out and infill with jointing compound
Once cured the cementitious screed was lightly abraded using the doubled headed diamond grinding machine.
936 square metres were then given two coats of KDR Epocoat HB high build epoxy resin flooring system, in the clients chosen Steel Light Grey, Ral 7040.
The job took just 11working days and was completed on time and within budget.
