PSC were delighted to be asked to put down a pooch proof flooring system at Pickles and Co, a boarding kennels in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire (approximately 37 miles southwest of Birmingham). The new venture consists of 18 boarding kennels, each with underfloor heating and natural lighting.
The client was looking for a hardwearing flooring solution that would cope with an abundance of muddy paws, the occasional accident and general wear and tear. The floor needed to be easy to clean and keep clean for obvious reasons.
The exceptional versatility of SL Polyurethane MD Screeds is evident in its performance as a self-smoothing floor screed making it perfect for the rigorous setting of a dog kennels.
In order to thoroughly clean and prepare newly laid concrete floor surface in preparation for the 4mm MD polyurethane screed flooring system, the entire floor was thoroughly prepared using a Husqvarna triple headed diamond grinding floor machine and handheld 110v diamond grinder, paired with an industrial vacuum system that collects the residue and dust created.
Finally a coat of moisture tolerant epoxy resin primer incorporating heavy scatter of 0.7 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate was laid to the entire area of the kennels.
The recommended nominal 4mm MD polyurethane screed system was then applied to all the 20 rooms and corridor in the client’s chosen smooth, matt Dark Grey.
To finish the job we laid one coat of Resdev Pumadur DD polyurethane resin coating system, in Dark Grey.
The work was completed in just 5 working days. Above all, on time and on budget, leaving the end client with the pooch proof flooring system. We wish Pickles and Co all the best for the future.
