PSC were delighted to be asked to refurbish the floor for PowerPlay of Redhill, Surrey. The 380 sqm floor was part of refurbishment project in which the floor would need to be refurbished ready to take an AstroTurf surface to create an Indoor cricket training Centre.
At the site visit the client explained that they needed a sound totally flat floor that would be suitable for playing cricket on. It was noted that the unit used to be owned by a resin installation company and the floor had been used to test products, hence there were multiple layers and variety of screeds. In order to give the client a flat floor in the most economical way PSC recommended that the floor be planned back and then levelled with a multi layer approach. Initially to bring the worst effected area (circa 100sqm) up to a level using a fibre reinforced base screed, followed by a heavy duty cementitious base screed, pumped to the entire floor area.
In preparation for the 13 tonnes of Weber 4320 fibre reinforced base screed, the multiple layers and variety of screeds needed to be removed. In some places removing 10 to 15mm of screed. In order to do so efficiently and consistently, the floor was planned, using a heavy-duty floor planer machine, designed for more demanding tasks, such as removing thick layers of screed.
Repairs were then made to the using industrial grade mesh over the worst cracks and severe damaged concrete across the floor area.
The entire floor was then given one coat of KDR Epocoat OT (oil tolerant) epoxy resin priming system, incorporating a heavy scatter of 0.6 to 1.2mm quartz aggregate.
13 tonnes of Weber 4320 fibre reinforced base screed was pumped into 100 sqm giving a nominal 40mm across the floor to bring floor up to correct level. This 100 square meter area was then given a coat of Weber 4716 acrylic primer .
Once dry an additional nominal 10mm Weber 4320 heavy duty cementitious base screed was machine pumped to the entire 380 sqm floor area leaving the client with a flat floor, ready for the installation of the cricket matting and final floor finish.
This major floor refurbishment project was completed to the highest standards and took just 6 days to complete.
