PSC Flooring were delighted to be called in by John WF Bebb Construction Ltd, a Shropshire based family run construction business, to look at the Cutting Room and Sausage Room floor at Rikki Lloyd Butchers of Welshpool.
The end client was looking for a hard wearing, food grade floor that would perform well in the wet and dry and cope with constantly being washed down. At the site visit it was evident that the concrete surface had falls to a central drain and it was evident they had previously painted the floor themselves and it was not lasting. In such tough conditions a floor paint was never going to work. It was therefore recommended that a nominal 6mm RT polyurethane screed was installed.
Initially the floor was thoroughly cleaned and prepared to remove the extensive build-up of failed floor paint, using the totally enclosed handheld 110v PCD grinding machine. The edges were prepared with a handheld total enclosed 110v diamond grinding machine. All residues and dust were vacuumed up with a 110v triple motor vacuum.
6mm x 6mm saw cuts were added to perimeter of floor area, door thresholds, around drains and gullies and where necessary to toe in and anchor the screed. A nominal 6mm heavy duty Resedv Pumadur RT polyurethane, textured, matt, in the clients chosen red colourway was laid, following the falls of the concrete substrate to ensure water would easily flow away towards the central drainage system .
The whole job was completed in just one day, completed on a Sunday, to avoid un-necessary down time in the busy butchers.
